Långviken, Storavan, Lappland.

66° North. 60 km south of the Arctic Circle. In the heart of one of Europe's most remote landscapes.

The Storavan – your back garden

Lake Storavan is one of Sweden's ten largest lakes — yet it remains largely unknown. Together with Lake Hornavan and Lake Uddjaure, it forms one of northern Sweden's most impressive lake districts: countless secluded islands, and crystal-clear water.

There are no tourist boats here, no crowded shores. Anyone paddling or fishing on Storavan usually has the water all to themselves.

Our seasons

Four seasons. Four promises.

Spring (March)

There's still snow on the ground, but the sun is back — shining for up to 16 hours a day. The best of winter and spring all in one.

Summer (June-August)

The sun hardly sets at all — 15 to 23 hours of daylight every day. Temperatures between 18 and 25°C. Midnight sun, canoeing, swimming, fishing, berry picking.

Autmun (September)

The Lapland Indian summer — brief, but breathtaking. The forests glow with shades of orange and red, whilst the lakes reflect a sky that changes every day.

Winter (November-April)

The lake is freezing over. The nights are long and the sky is lit up by the Northern Lights. Snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing — and a silence you won't find anywhere else.

How it all began

In 2021, we – Daria and Johannes – made a decision that sounded crazy to many: we found ourselves a little corner of Lapland – right on Lake Storavan, 60 km south of the Arctic Circle – and set about making something of it.

Not because we had a business plan. But because we were convinced that this place is special. That people who come here take away something they can't find anywhere else. Silence. Space. The feeling that the world is still in order.

Nordic Lakeside is not a hotel and not a tour operator. It is our home — which we share with you

Johannes (42)

He knows the Storavan inside out: the best fishing spots and the quietest coves. As a guide, he's exactly what you'd want — experienced and calm. When he's not out on the water, he's in his metal workshop making fishing lures.

Daria (39)

Organisation, communication, catering and the hundred little things that turn a good stay into an unforgettable one. On Airbnb, she's a Superhost and a guest favourite — because she means it when she says: 'Get in touch anytime.'

Foster (15)

He used to be a hiking guide and is now an unofficial ambassador for Nordic Lakeside.

Johannes also makes fishing lures. In his workshop here in Långviken, Johannes crafts handmade fishing lures under the name Storavaspoon — designed and tested on the lake right on his doorstep. If you’re interested, you can find out more on Instagram.
